Overview

Alsatian AI Orchestrator turns a written request into a work plan with steps and dependencies, and assigns each step to one of several AI agents based on what they do best and what they cost.

Gemini classifies and plans; Codex writes code and runs tests; Claude Code takes on complex changes. Anything only a person can do, such as credentials, accounts or deployments, stays with the user.

Safety is part of the design: each task works in an isolated worktree, an approval policy evaluates the actual changes, and nothing is merged into the user’s branch without confirmation.

  • Plan in progress: each step with its agent (sample data)
  • Ongoing activity and agent status (sample data)
  • Final report, ready to merge (sample data)

Key features

  1. 01

    Plans with dependencies

Each request becomes steps with dependencies, priority and a queue. If Gemini is unavailable, a local rule-based classifier takes over.

  2. 02

The right agent for each step

Gemini assigns each step to the most suitable and cost-effective agent, and explains why. The assignment can be changed before approval.

  3. 03

    Automatic supervision

Gemini reviews each step’s result and the actual diff: it accepts it, retries with corrections or asks for a decision. At the end it writes a report.

  4. 04

    Isolated worktrees

Each task works in its own branch and worktree, outside the user’s folder, and is merged in a way that touches nothing if there is a conflict.

  5. 05

    Approval policy

It evaluates what actually changed: secrets, CI, install scripts or mass deletions are held for human review.

  6. 06

    Durable state

Atomic writes, cross-process locking and backups. An interrupted step is never retried on its own: it waits for the user’s decision.

Role and responsibilities

My role

Design and development

  • Architecture of the extension and the local orchestration engine.
  • Integration with Gemini (Antigravity CLI), Codex and Claude Code.
  • Git worktree isolation and change approval policy.
  • Durable persistence, failure recovery and end-to-end tests with real AI.
